An infamous character from the Lambourn Valley.
I met ‘WHISKERS’ early in my life in Lambourn. It was wonderful to meet a local legend: Farm manager to one of the larger estates; vintage motorbike sprinter; wine collector; and wise man full of local and land knowledge, to boot.
As soon as I opened my mouth I realised that he was known as ‘whiskers’ to only a few … and this was definitely not a way to address him at our first meeting!
Fortunately, neither of us seemed daunted by this faux pas … and we became firm friends thereafter.
These two etchings are part of a run of work about ‘Mr B’ – a remarkable man with a fascinating face.
