THE BUSINESS CENTAUR was first created while Sioban was exploring casting and mythology in Italy. It was later proposed as a public sculpture by British Rail for their station at Basingstoke.

The lifesize piece would stand 'plinthless' and naked, four square on the ground, at the taxi rank outside the station. The commission was to be funded through British Rail's Partnership Scheme. Unfortunately, one of the partners - an insurance firm - decided that Basingstoke 'wasn't ready' for this kind of humour...
