Portrait of a PARISH PRIEST.
This was one of Sioban’s earliest bronzes, originally cast at Sydney place under the tutelage of sculptor John Huggins.
Initially modelled and cast in plaster, it was a portrait of a Parish Priest Sioban knew in her college days - socks and all (a very English characteristic).
Ironically it was auctioned for charity by the very clergyman in question, where it fetched £11 on the promise that the buyer did not have to take it away!
The maquette was then returned to Sioban who was very pleased to see this unusual bird again, and went on to edition it in bronze.
