MOTIVATION AND MATERIALS
Tutor: Sioban Coppinger

Friday 7 September 2007
10am - 4pm

Sioban is a sculptor who works in bronze. Much of her work is inspired by our entanglement with the natural world. This course formed part of the ‘Celebrating Art in the Garden’ exhibition which marked the sixtieth anniversary of Urchfont as a centre for adult learning. Work by Sioban and other artists and craftsmen were on display in the garden from 2-9 September 2007.

This one day course was designed to give participants an understanding of the creative process that ends with a piece of sculpture. What motivates an artist? What materials do they use? What are their techniques? Using a mix of illustrated informal lectures, question and answer sessions, and guided walks around the exhibition, Sioban helped participants to enrich their experience of viewing both this and other exhibitions.

Fees for these workshops were £25 including lunch, morning coffee and tea.
